Just a little here that made me think. Remember the 80% or more rule from Jacob Nielson: search as a box, logo in upper left, absense of splash to expedite transaction, breadcrumb and standard link colors.

Can we develop a 80% rule standard for associations? Here are a few things that I believe should be ubiquitous:

Join Now or Renew - direct link to start filling out info or renew
Events button - direct link to the schedule for the month or year
Contact or Feedback link - direct link to form to ask a question
Sitewide accessible logins - think KLM and how many extra clicks it requires to go to intermediate login pages

I intend to keep this list growing...feel free to make your own additions.
